We are proud to be the first clinic in Canada to provide BlephEx treatments to our patients with dry eye syndrome!
Blepharitis is an inflammation of the eyelids, in particular, the area where the eyelashes grow. This area has a great deal of tiny oil glands called meibomian glands right at the base of the lashes, which can become clogged and irritated. This leads to sore, red eyelids and even crusted gunk along your lash line. It is also a major precursor to dry eye syndrome.
BlephEx is a handheld device that our optometrists use to remove bacteria, biofilm, and Demodex mites from your eyelids. The device has a spinning medical-grade micro-sponge, that is precisely and carefully run along the edges of your eyelids. This effectively clears the bacteria, scurf, and debris from your eyelids.
The results of BlephEx can be felt right away. Your clean and exfoliated eyelids are healthier and happier. Your meibomian glands are free to support your eyes with more meibum, which means better tears to lubricate your eyes. We will give you instructions on nightly lid hygiene, but for the most effective treatment, return to our office for a repeat BlephEx treatment every 4 to 6 months.
Located in the Heart of Surrey, along King George Boulevard, we welcome anyone in the Langley, Delta, Cloverfield and Surrey area to come visit.
